MICHAEL BERBA

CEO

As a chef on the firing line of one of the top kitchens, Michael Berba found himself in the midst of a grueling drug and alcohol addiction, facing a complete crisis of self.

Introduced to rehab as a teen, Berba is a trauma survivor of a broken family system who didn’t find consistent sobriety until he was 34. It took years of relapse and substance abuse before he was willing to see the destructive patterns he had established to survive and cope.

Berba had to hit rock bottom to become willing to do the work to change. Now, well into his second career, Berba has rebuilt his life and focus to become one of the nation’s preeminent family coaches. For the last decade, he has been redefining what case management and rehabilitative treatment models can look like –especially for those who are suffering from substance abuse and acute psychiatric distress.

A passionate advocate for holistic healing paradigms, Berba’s approach moves beyond crisis intervention to focus on rebuilding the family foundations that sustain real change. At the core of Berba’s working philosophy is the belief that all the pieces of the puzzle reside within the family system. When the family addresses the root patterns of dysfunction, they can finally cease the sabotage and find a path to a new life.

A creative thinker who enjoys disrupting the industry status quo, Berba is known for always trying to find new ways to effect positive change. His radical perspective on shifting the short-term approach of traditional treatment models sets him apart —and makes him a highly sought-after coach and guide. Regardless of the feathers he ruffles, Berba is a devoted mentor who goes above and beyond for the individuals and families in his care. His practice is dedicated to creating the conditions for clients to thrive on the road to recovery.

In his free time, Berba enjoys making the perfect meal, snowboarding, and challenging himself on mountain ranges worldwide in search of the perfect powder.

He lives in Los Angeles with his family.
